Production in China really the Holy Grail?
by Bradley W. Higgins
I keep hearing companies saying that we cant have our products made in in USA for what we can have it made in China for.
So lets step back and look at the whole picture of production here in the USA vs China:
A US company wants to go to China to have a product made, if they want to buy land to build a factory the cost of land is 1/4 higher than land in the USA. The cost of electricity is 75% less here in the good old USA vs China, and the only thing China has over the US is labor is $2.00 hr vs $13.00 hr here in the USA.
I did forget the one thing we have that China does not human rights for workers safety, our kids go to school and get to be kids until they grow up. Our kid are not sold into slavery.
That's my cheap shot at US designer bands that have there products made in other countries.
Now lets get back to production in China vs the USA so if property cost more, electricity cost more, taxes cost more, and the cost to build is double that of the USA were is the benefit of going over seas? It is simply the human rights part, they don't have to worry about unions, OSHA, Workman's comp, health benefits, and retirement.
So this companies want us to support them because there US owned but don't what to support the US economy or its people for the long term. They just want there cake but don't want any of the time it takes to make it, China is the fast track to greed and false profit for most companies.
If things were so great in china why are private companies in China starting to move the companies state side? Because the private sector of China owned companies know it is cheaper to have there products sold in the US, Mexico, Canada, South American are cheaper to have produced in the USA.
The only way a product is cheaper is if it is made by a state owned factory, and then labor is $2.00 a day, going back the human rights deal again...
So the only way we are going to become strong again is to buy American Made products that source 50% or more of its US produced raw materials. If China can buy raw materials from the USA and then sell it back to us on credit with interest, why can't we do it?
The biggest export to China is US dollars!!!
