Colossal Event Challenges GOP To Stop Acting Like Dems

Sold-Out MN Rally “Shadow Convention” Slaps RNC Over Move To Left

Grand Rapids, MI: The sold-out Rally for the Republic will be held September 2, 2008 at the Minneapolis, MN Target Center, just miles from the Republican National Convention. This historic event will highlight the widespread dissatisfaction with the Republican Party’s ideological shift away from Constitutional, limited-government principles.

The Rally promises to be “the most spirited and provocative political event of the year”. Headlining the event will be NBC’s Tucker Carlson, 2006 Academy of Country Music Female Vocalist of the Year, Sara Evans, Texas Congressman and former GOP presidential candidate Ron Paul, former Minnesota Governor Jesse Ventura, former California Congressman Barry Goldwater Jr. and November’s Third Party Option - Constitution Party presidential candidate Chuck Baldwin (www.Baldwin08.com).

GOP delegates and alternates to the Republican National Convention have been offered free tickets to the three-day event.

The Rally for the Republic, sponsored by the Ron Paul Campaign for Liberty, is billed as “a clear call to the Republican Party to return to its roots of limited government, personal responsibility, and protection of our natural rights”

The event will run in conjunction with the first two days of the Republican National Convention and will feature top conservative speakers, musicians, and organizations.

Constitution Party presidential candidate Chuck Baldwin will be at the Rally along with Constitution Party Founder Howard Phillips. Phillips, former Director of the U.S. Office of Economic Opportunity for President Nixon, and Founder and Chairman of the Conservative Caucus will address the rally at 12:55 pm, September 2.

Constitution Party presidential candidate Chuck Baldwin, 56, is a Florida pastor, radio talk show host and columnist. He was the Constitution Party’s 2004 vice presidential candidate. He campaigned for Congressman Ron Paul and has been singled out by Paul for his constitutionally-correct stand on the issues.

The Baldwin campaign is on course to welcome Ron Paul followers once it becomes official at the Republican National Convention that Paul will not be on the November ballot.

Baldwin and Constitution Party vice presidential candidate Darrell Castle, an attorney and Marine Viet Nam combat veteran, are being considered the “antidote” to “Big Box” party candidates Obama and McCain as more voters express unhappiness with both parties.

“Everywhere we go on our campaign stops we hear people say, ‘I’m afraid of Obama and don’t trust McCain”, said Baldwin, recently endorsed by three time New York Times best-selling author Jerome Corsi, Ph.D.(www.newyorktimes.com)

Corsi’s latest best-seller “Obama Nation” follows best-sellers “The Late, Great U.S.A; the Coming Merger with Mexico and Canada” and “Unfit for Command. Swift Boat Veterans Speak Out Against John Kerry.”

The Constitution Party is the fastest growing and largest third party based on voter registration (Ballot Access News).

Sugar Daddy Government: Another Bailout Picks America’s Pockets

Las Vegas, NV - Constitution Party presidential candidate Chuck Baldwin who is scheduled to address this weekend’s upcoming Conservative Leadership Conference in Las Vegas, NV, will comment on the latest government bailouts and the accelerating meltdown of the U.S. financial system.

Baldwin will speak to the annual gathering of conservative and libertarian political leaders Saturday, September 20th at 3 PM local time and is expected to say, “Our entire financial system is based on an illusion, with a foundation built on quicksand. We spend more than we earn, we consume more than we produce, we borrow more than we save – and we cling to the fantasy that this can go on forever. The glue that holds this crumbling scheme together is a fiat currency called the Federal Reserve Note, created out of thin air by an international banking cartel called the Federal Reserve. Since a ‘note’ is a debt, this leaves us with an obvious problem

"That deer in the headlights look on the faces of Obama/Biden/McCain/Palin when discussing this crisis should tell Americans everything they need to know about these candidates. Not one of them is letting on they know what’s really happening, much less how to fix it!

"In the last three years, the Federal Reserve has created over $4 trillion in new money out of absolutely nothing. As these huge new piles of phony money flood the banking system, the phony money already in circulation becomes worth even less, which leads to higher prices. We accept the vague term ‘inflation’ to describe this giant rip off, as if some immutable force of nature is the cause of our shrinking paychecks. But, make no mistake –This meltdown will ultimately spell disaster for every American.

"The roller coaster ride began in earnest with the $60 billion Bear Stearns bailout, followed quickly by the $300 billion bailout of government’s big mortgage/banker buddies last month. September started with the massive Freddie/Fannie bailout that will end up costing taxpayers somewhere between $500 billion to $1 trillion. On Monday, the fed brokered the Bank of America buyout of Merrill Lynch. Then just the other night, the fed announced the $85 billion bailout of AIG insurance, an enormous global entity with over $1.1 trillion in assets.

"So far, the only solution being talked about is more of the same failed monetary policies that got us into this mess in the first place – more fake money, more debt, more usury. It is time to demand a return to sound money. None of the other “Big Box” candidates is even talking about the most obvious place to begin the road to recovery, which is a return to the constitutional principal of sound money."

Baldwin, a conservative commentator, Internet columnist, talk show host and pastor appeared at a news conference in Washington, D.C. recently with former GOP presidential candidate, Congressman Ron Paul (R-Tex.). Paul urged Americans to bypass both major party candidates and instead vote for a candidate such as Chuck Baldwin.

Appearing on CNN’s popular Lou Dobbs Tonight program while in Washington, Baldwin was told by Dobbs, Americans had “a good reason” to vote for him.( See Lou Dobbs TV transcript and a YouTube clip of the show)

Baldwin will address the 4 day CLC , held at the Tuscany Suites (225- E. Flamingo Rd) in Las Vegas, NV.

More than 50 speakers will address the participants on such topics as grassroots lobbying, government accountability and media bias. (See the agenda here) Baldwin will join speakers such as Libertarian presidential candidate Bob Barr and Grover Norquist of Americans for Tax Reform.

The truth behind rising fuel prices

Here is an article that the Dems have been trying to side step since the Clinton regime was in power.
I thought it only right to re post it here for all its glory!

Fueling America's Economy

I believe that the economy and the need for affordable energy are inextricably connected. Alan Greenspan recently cited rising energy costs as the biggest threat to the economic recovery. High energy prices increase costs to businesses and consumers alike, stifling the economic recovery, and cramping job creation. At the same time, Congressional opponents of common-sense oil and gas exploration, and their friends in the radical environmental movement, appear hell-bent on hampering the ability of America's energy sector to contribute to both the creation of jobs for American workers, and cheaper energy for American consumers.

Obviously, the most high-profile front in this battle is the tug-of-war over whether or not to permit energy exploration in the Alaska National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR). The case for allowing such development in a tiny fraction of the 19 million acre refuge was recently bolstered by a report released by the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA). The report found that development in just 2,000 acres of ANWR could increase domestic oil production by nearly 20% - or some 876,000 barrels of oil per day.

That is 876,000 barrels of oil that Americans would not be importing from overseas, and 876,000 barrels per day being produced in America, by American workers - and not just those in Alaska. One study found that investment in ANWR could create more than 700,000 jobs by as early as 2005, and that most of them would be in other states. Indeed, of the $22.5 billion spent between 1980 and 1984 on development on Alaska's North Slope, some 78% was spent outside Alaska. Had responsible development in ANWR not been vetoed by President Clinton in 1995, that energy - and the jobs it would have created across the country - might be helping to provide fuel for the American economy today.

ANWR is not the only front in this battle. Environmental groups are also working hard to stymie energy exploration in the National Petroleum Reserve - despite the fact that the area was originally set aside for the express purpose of energy development in 1923 by then-President Warren G. Harding - which raises an interesting question: If Americans can't get their petroleum from a "Petroleum Reserve", where are they supposed to get it?

American Energy Means American Jobs

Ironically, many of the loudest voices denouncing domestic energy production are the same voices vehemently criticizing the movement of American jobs overseas. It is ironic because their largely successful efforts to thwart new domestic energy production have resulted in Americans spending more than $100 billion annually on imported energy - energy that could be produced safely right here in America, by American workers.

Energy production and environmental conservation are not mutually exclusive goals. America has by most accounts the most advanced technology, the toughest environmental safeguards, and the best workforce in the world. Utilizing that workforce to make America more energy self-sufficient will provide a potent remedy for the ailing job market, and a solution to higher prices at the pump.

Tancredo Slams Hickenlooper and Ritter for Deaths Caused by Illegal Alien

Says blood is on mayor’s hands for ignoring 2006 sanctuary city law

( WASHINGTON, D.C. ) – U.S. Rep. Tom Tancredo (R-Littleton) today criticized Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper (D-Denver) and Governor Bill Ritter (D-CO) for failing to enforce state laws against sanctuary city policies that resulted in the release of Francis Hernandez on multiple occasions and, ultimately, the deaths of 3 innocent people.

“It is the mayor’s responsibility to enforce state laws as they apply to Denver,” Tancredo said. “Since Denver continues to remain a sanctuary city, in clear violation of state and federal law, the blood from this incident is on his hands.”

In 2006, the Colorado Legislature passed SB90, a bill requiring all Colorado law enforcement to report possible illegal aliens to federal authorities for offenses that are more serious than traffic citations.

In 2007, out of the many thousands of foreign-born arrestees who go through the Denver city-county jail, only 2,088 were referred to ICE according to reports filed with the state Department of Local Affairs.

“Francis Hernandez was in custody in Denver but was not one of the cases referred to ICE by Denver police,” said Tancredo. “How many more innocent people must die before Denver gets serious about obeying the law?”

Tancredo also criticized Governor Ritter for not enforcing SB90, enacted in the 2006 special session of the legislature. Governor Owens signed the bill into law but the Ritter administration has merely winked at it.

“Under Governor Ritter, the state’s Department of Local Affairs has yet to withhold funds from a single city for non-compliance with the sanctuary city law,” Tancredo said.

“If police departments in the Denver metro area are refusing to comply with Colorado law in reporting individuals with questionable legal status, we need to know why and make sure those responsible for subverting our laws are held accountable,” Tancredo continued.

According to press reports, Hernandez has been arrested at least 20 times in the Denver metro area, 5 of which came after the sanctuary city bill passed in 2006. He was in custody in Denver and Aurora prior to this incident. Federal immigration authorities say he was never referred to them for deportation.

“If a careful examination shows that our laws are not strong enough in preventing these outrageous situations from occurring, Governor Ritter should act swiftly to press the legislature to pass tougher legislation,” Tancredo concluded. “As more information surfaces about Hernandez, I’ll be particularly interested in knowing who has been employing him for the past few years.”

US House Leaders Plan Vote on Big Foreign Worker Increase This Week -- Despite 5-Year Unemployment High

Here's another entry in the contest to find out whether many politicians are just stupid or are cynically evil:

  • THE CRISIS: The feds announced last week that our official unemployment rate has soared to 6.1%, the highest since September 2003.
  • THE CARING RESPONSE IN WORDS: Anticipating and reacting to the economic uncertainty in so many households, both Presidential Nominating Conventions were full of promises to help the beleaguered American worker.
  • THE ACTUAL STAB IN THE BACK: But this week, we get to see what ACTIONS the politicians plan for us. First out of the blocks, the Democratic Leadership of the U.S. House of Representatives is responding this week by trying to shove through a bill -- H.R. 5882 -- which would provide about 550,000 permanent green cards to foreign workers next year. And those would be ABOVE the 1 million permanent green cards already planned!

Folks, this is not just rhetoric. This is the House leadership trying to pass this bill to permanently give away hundreds of thousands more American jobs to foreign workers.

Unless you make a phone call before Wednesday, this legislation is almost guaranteed to pass because it is backed by the richest, most powerful corporate lobbying interests in town, by the House Democratic leadership and by a large number of corporate-lobby-inspired Republicans.

AMERICANS NEED JOBS -- NOT FOREIGN WORKERS

Let's take a quick look at the employment statistics that don't seem to matter to Members of Congress who are pushing H.R. 5882:

  • The official unemployment rate soared 0.4 percentage point to 6.1%, the highest since September 2003. The unemployment rate was under 5% as recently as February. Remember that the unemployment rate only measures those who are looking for work and can't find it. Millions more have just stopped looking.
  • 342,000 jobs were simply eliminated throughout the economy last month. And the number of people officially looking for work and unable to find it rose by 592,000.
  • Manufacturing firms cut 61,000 jobs, the biggest drop since July 2003.
  • Construction employment was down by 8,000.
  • Service-sector employment fell 27,000.
  • Business and professional services companies shed 53,000 jobs--the seventh drop in eight months.
  • Retail trade cut 19,900 payrolls, the ninth-straight decline.
  • Even temporary employment fell by 36,900.

With that kind of news, what kind of person would schedule a vote this week to offer an EXTRA 550,000 permanent green cards next year? Read on.

REP. ZOE LOFGREN IS THE ENEMY OF UNEMPLOYED WORKERS

There are so many Members of Congress who work primarily for the interests of the cheap-labor lobbyists, it is difficult to single out just one to be the face of all that is idiotic, cynical and callous about our immigration policies.

But Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-Calif.) gets to be that face this week. She is chair of the House immigration subcommittee. She long has served on that committee, doing the bidding of the corporations in her Silicon Valley District.

But her decision to move H.R. 5882 through the Judiciary Committee is not just about getting more higher skilled foreign workers instead of hiring American tech workers.

No, this time she's bringing in foreign workers to take nearly every kind of job in America. The only criteria really is that you have a couple of years experience in the type of job you would be taking from an American worker. These 550,000 extra greencards would be for engineers, health workers, construction workers, service workers, manufacturing workers -- well, they would go to foreign workers who do all the kinds of jobs that have been disappearing!

If you -- or anybody you know -- works in any of these sectors, you had better act fast because Rep. Lofgren and her followers have every intention of giving away more of the declining number of jobs in your occupations.

If there were any sanity or compassion for struggling American workers, Congress would not be considering increasing greencards but instead would be considering reducing the already high 1 million greencards a year to something more like the traditional average of just a quarter-million.

Feel free to call Rep. Lofgren and express your opinion through the congressional switchboard at:
202-224-3121

You can also use that number to reach your own Representative and ask if he/she is aware of the insanity planned for the House Judiciary Committee this week.

And be sure to check your Action Buffet corkboard for other actions you can take.

FALSE PRETENSES FOR PUSHING H.R. 5882

Rep. Lofgren and other pushers of H.R. 5882 think they have come up with a really clever way to get around the general public opposition to immigration increases.

Their gimmick is "Recapturing Unused Employer-Sponsored Visas."

You see, the law was changed in 1990 to triple the number of employer-sponsored permanent immigrants each year. The upper limit was set at 140,000. In fact, the feds have violated that limit several times since 1990 and given away more than 140,000 of these greencards. But in some years, they also have issued fewer than 140,000.

The cheap-labor lobbyists came up with the idea to "recapture" the greencards that weren't issued just in the years when the numbers fell below 140,000. First of all, the law is written so that "unused" visas in one category are figured into how greencards are given in another category the following year. By current law, there are NO "unused visas."

But there is an even more important matter here. The cap was set at the extremely high level of 140,000. But, still, there is a cap. There is not a floor. That is, the feds can decide in any given year that it would not be good for American workers to give out all 140,000 permanent work visas. And the cap is there to keep businesses from getting so many foreign workers in a single year that they traumatize a whole section of American workers. The cheap-labor lobbyists claim there are 550,000 greencards that weren't given out during certain of the last 18 years and that they should be given that many extra foreign workers next year.

Every Member of the House Judiciary Committee should be phoned and told that 592,000 additional Americans were thrown onto the official unemployment rolls last month (and that doesn't count the millions already unemployed), and that the 550,000 jobs that H.R. 5882 would give to foreign workers ought to go to the unemployed Americans.

And please don't let the congressional staff tell you that these foreign workers are needed because unemployed Americans are looking for different kinds of jobs.

These 550,000 greencards would go to virtually every kind of foreign worker. And virtually every kind American worker is losing jobs right now.

Devastating bills to increase foreign workers

DEAR FRIENDS,

The open-borders crowd is counting on most of you to sit out the vote today -- to not pick up the phone and call -- to not send a fax.

But more than a hundred thousand of you have sent a fax this week, and thousands have made calls.

We need everything you have this morning before the House Judiciary Committee votes on several bills to radically increase immigration and the number of foreign workers while the number of American jobs is dwindling.

Read about the crisis at the top of our home page in my blog, both at:
www.NumbersUSA.com

Find faxes to send and instructions for phone calls at:
www.NumbersUSA.com/actionbuffet

If you do not have House party leaders or Members of the Judiciary Committee in your state, you may not see action notes. But you can still make calls through the Capitol switchboard at:

202-224-3121

Ask for your own U.S. Representative so you can tell him/her about the outrage happening in the Judiciary Committee today.

We expect these bad bills will pass Judiciary despite all your calls. The main purpose of your calls is to build as big of a NO vote as possible so that House Democratic leaders will fret that it is too politically risky to bring these bills to the floor during the fall campaign season.

Please make the phone calls now. You will see the talking points when you click on the links above. But the main simple, short thing to say on the phone is:

"Please vote NO on every bill that would add foreign workers of any kind at a time when we are suffering our worst unemployment in five years."

Michelle Obama’s not proud to an American

Michelle Obama’s America—and mine
Michelle Malkin
Copyright Creators Syndicate 2008

Barack Obama–the guy who effectively mocked the Clintons for not saying what they mean–is now trying to spin his wife’s comments by explaining that she, uh, didn’t really mean what she said.

Jim Hoft has the vid of Michelle Obama repeating the line twice. She meant what she said.

***

My column this week gives you two Michelles, two Americas. John Edwards was right after all!

Like Michelle Obama, I am a “woman of color.” Like Michelle Obama, I am a working mother of two young children. Like Michelle Obama, I am a member of the 13th Generation of Americans born since the founding of our great nation.

Unlike Michelle Obama, I can’t keep track of the number of times I’ve been proud—really proud—of my country since I was born and privileged to live in it.

At a speech in Milwaukee this week on behalf of her husband’s Democrat presidential campaign, Mrs. Obama remarked that “For the first time in my adult lifetime, I am really proud of my country, and not just because Barack has done well, but because I think people are hungry for change.”

Mrs. Obama’s statement was met with warm applause from other Barack supporters who have apparently also been devoid of pride in their country for their adult lifetimes. Or maybe it was just a Pavlovian response to the word “change.” What a sad, empty, narcissistic, ungrateful, unthinking lot.

I’m just seven years younger than Mrs. Obama. We’ve grown up and lived in the same era. And yet, her self-absorbed attitude is completely foreign to me. What planet is she living on? Since when was now the only time the American people have ever been “hungry for change?” Michelle, ma belle, Barack is not the center of the universe. Newsflash: The Obamas did not invent “change” any more than Hillary invented “leadership” or John McCain invented “straight talk.”

We were both adults when the Berlin Wall fell, Michelle. That was earth-shattering change.

We’ve lived through two decades’ worth of peaceful, if contentious election cycles under the rule of law that have brought about “change” and upheaval both good and bad.

We were adults through several launches of the Space Shuttle, in case you were snoozing. [Ed. note: Speaking of which, welcome back, Atlantis!] And as adults, we’ve witnessed and benefited from dizzyingly rapid advances in technology, communications, science, and medicine pioneered by American entrepreneurs who yearned and succeeded to change the world. You want “change?” Go ask the patients whose lives have been improved and extended by American pharmaceutical companies who have flourished under the best economic system in the world.

If the fall of communism, American ingenuity, and a robust constitutional republic don’t do it for you, hon, then how about American heroism and sacrifice?

How about every Memorial Day? Every Veteran’s Day? Every Independence Day? Every Medal of Honor ceremony? Has she never attended a welcome home ceremony for the troops?

For me, there’s the thrill of the Blue Angels roaring over cloudless skies. And the somber awe felt amid the hallowed waters that surround the sunken U.S.S. Arizona at the Pearl Harbor memorial.

Every naturalization ceremony I’ve attended, where hundreds of new Americans have raised their hands to swear an oath of allegiance to this land of liberty, has been a moment of pride for me. So have the awesome displays of American compassion at home and around the world. When millions of Americans rallied to help the victims of the 2005 tsunami in southern Asia—including members of the U.S.S. Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group that sped from Hong Kong to assist survivors—my heart filled with pride. It did again when the citizens of Houston opened their arms to Hurricane Katrina victims and folks across the country rushed to their churches, Salvation Army, and Red Cross offices to volunteer.

How about American resilience? Does that not make you proud? Only a heart of stone could be unmoved by the strength, valor and determination displayed in New York and Washington and Shanksville, Pa., on September 11, 2001.

I believe it was Michael Kinsley who quipped that a gaffe is when a politician tells the truth. In this case, it’s what happens when an elite Democrat politician’s wife says what a significant portion of the party’s base really believes to be the truth: That America is more a source of shame than pride.

Michelle Obama has achieved enormous professional success, political influence, and personal acclaim in America. Ivy League-educated, she’s been lauded by Essence magazine as one of the 25 World’s Most Inspiring Women; by Vanity Fair as one of the “10 World’s Best Dressed People; and named one of “The Harvard 100″ top influencers. She has had an amazingly blessed life. But you wouldn’t know it from her campaign rhetoric and her griping over her and her husband’s student loans.

For years, we’ve heard liberals get offended at any challenge to their patriotism. And so they are again aggrieved and rising to explain away Mrs. Obama’s remarks.
